Sabin Sharpe

The small town of Swansea, SC, known for its community values and southern charm, gave the world a star in the making: Sabin Sharpe. Raised with a love for the outdoors, Sabin spent his formative years hunting and fishing alongside his family. As a young man, he showcased his athletic prowess, particularly as a standout pitcher, playing on the 12U state championship team from Lexington, SC, and gaining recognition through high school.

Post high school, Sabin’s journey took a patriotic turn as he enlisted in the US Army. It was during his service that he discovered a new passion – singing and songwriting. Upon completing his service, with a dedication to his roots, Sabin returned home to Swansea. He engaged in landscaping and barbering, helping support his family.

Sabin’s musical talent might have remained hidden if not for his observant grandmother. Recognizing his potential, she provided him with tools that would set him on a musical path: a Karaoke machine, CDs, and a PA system. Despite his initial hesitations about performing in public, her persistence paid off when Sabin finally took to singing in church, driven by her encouragement.

However, 2011 marked a turning point for Sabin. Entered by his father into the Texaco Showdown singing contest in Orangeburg, SC, he astounded everyone by winning the semifinals and securing the second spot in the finals. This was particularly impressive as it marked his first-ever onstage performance. An industry veteran, recognizing his raw talent, advised Sabin to gather a band and refine his onstage presence.

Heeding this advice, by the end of 2012, the ‘Sabin Sharpe Band’ was born. The Columbia-based band, energized by Sabin’s distinct raspy vocals, made their mark with their debut in 2013. Their captivating “in-your-face” country music style quickly amassed a loyal following. Over their first year, they showcased their prowess over 70 times, playing across diverse venues, and sharing the stage with renowned names like Wayland, Gannon Adams, Jackyl, Outshyne, David Lee Murphy, Lenny Cooper, and Benton Blount.

Sabin’s musical reach extended beyond South Carolina, with performances at revered venues in North Carolina, Georgia, California, and even the music capital, Nashville, Tennessee.

2013 was also pivotal as the band released their first demo, which included hits like “Shake What Your Momma Gave Ya,” “The Ballad of Bobby Baine,” and “Just Like The Rest.” Sabin’s rising fame saw him featured in various media outlets, notably “Muddy Beatz Magazine,” “The Iceman’s: Best Country Radio,” and “The Josie Show.” His hard work and talent were recognized when he received the Founders Award from the Charlotte Music Association in Los Angeles, CA, in 2014.

From the woods of Swansea to the spotlight of Los Angeles, Sabin Sharpe’s journey is a testament to talent, perseverance, and the enduring power of family support. This modern country artist, with his genuine heart and unique voice, is undoubtedly set for even greater heights in the music industry.
